Breaking the Ice (not an ankle)

I will take this slow and easy and make posts short and simple. I don't pretend that a 500 word post will hold much lasting interest.

I am 44 (45 this month). I decided I was getting out of shape, overweight, and my blood pressure had risen to the point of needing medication. On April 2, 2010, I made a decision that I would pick up running and stick with it this time. I ran high school track and had dabbled in running a few times since but never stuck. This time will be different.

To catch you up, it has been 9 months, I am 27lbs lighter, my BP is consistently 120/70 and down to a 1/2 dose of the lightest medication (will probably come off this year). I have completed the Couch to 5K program, ran six 5ks, one 8k, and two 10ks. I PR'd every race as I progressed through 2010. I am running around 18 miles a week on average and logged 615 miles in 2010.

I will post more details on my first races, the C25K program, DailyMile, the Tidewater Striders, Hampton Roads Runners and tons of new friends I have made. Stay tuned and thanks for reading.
