I am going to attempt to get back out on the roads today with a short run as I am almost over the chest cold.
Anyway, as a conclusion to my 2010 running schedule and if my memory serves me correctly, I completed six 5k races, one 8k race, and two 10k races. I had 9 PR(personal records). I logged 614 miles and averaged a run every other day.
My goals for 2011 are breaking a 23 second 5k (my current 5k PR is 25:04), breaking a 50 second 10k (my current PR is 52:22), to complete my first 1/2 marathon (signed up and training for the March 19th Shamrock 1/2) and to run 1000 miles.
So that clears us up through January 2011 and it was a whirlwind of 9 months of running. I had lots of discouraging runs, two minor injury time outs, a spring cold, but also lots of great advances in both pace and distance. I miss running when I don't get to go at least every other day.
Speaking of that, yesterday was my 45th birthday and instead of celebrating with a 45 minute run or something hokie, I was inside looking up HVAC vendors since our home heat was on the fritz and recuperating from a chest cold. I WILL RUN TONIGHT!!!!!
Let you know how it goes tomorrow.
It took me 25 years to decide to run again after being a high school track sprinter. My wife was doubtful and asked that question. She had already experienced 25 years living with a marathon running father and now her husband was going to start running. I have done it. I have become a runner.I will attempt to document my experiences and share interesting tidbits along the way
